Bellerophon & Pegasus A common misconception: Despite many modern depictions, Perseus was not the hero who rode Pegasus. The Greek hero Bellerophon, who also slayed the chimera, was actually the one who tamed Pegasus. Another fun fact: Pegasus, the winged horse, was born from the blood spilled when Perseus slayed the Gorgon Medusa.
